Information about joining Brockport Yacht Club

Brockport Yacht Club is a boating club, with a focus on sailing. It has always been a “Do It Yourself” organization, with the members contributing time, knowledge, talents, and sometimes providing personal resources to keep the club going since 1904.

What are the benefits of a BYC membership?

  • A personal key giving you access to grounds, club house, and use of a private lakefront property
  • Club house with kitchen, showers, lockers, meeting room, and the “best porch in the world”
  • Picnic pavilion shelter
  • Gas grills
  • Beach swimming and relaxation
  • Great Lake boating
  • Use of a club sailboat
  • Creek exploration by motor boat, kayaking, or canoe
  • Fishing
  • Holiday parties
  • On premise gasoline for boats
  • Seasonal boat docks with water and power (when available)
  • Small boat launch ramp and crane (6,000 lbs)
  • Boat crane launch in the spring
  • Boat crane hull-out in the fall
  • Winter boat storage (outdoor)
  • Life long friendships that sharing a common place and interest can create

The club has a membership cap at 100. Individuals interested in membership when we have reached our cap are put on a waiting list. Those on a waiting list can still participate in club activities as guest of a member, but have no club key nor voting rights.

The fact that there are more membership spots than we have boat slips means that a new member with a boat may not immediately get a boat slip. On the other hand, not owning a boat should not prevent you from joining our boat club. Many “boatless” members still get enjoyment of the site and people, and one can still get boat time on the water by crewing for others, or using the club sailboat.

Because members contribute to the running and maintenance of the club, our membership dues are one of the lowest on the lake.

The Brockport Yacht Club is a self sustaining, not-for-profit organization, whose operational expenses are shared equally by all members. Members are expected to pay all dues and assessments promptly when due.
